A Message From the President

Dear members, we are already in July and time has flown by fast. It was only 5 years ago that GSA got its wings. I believe that it is fair to say that this association has proven itself and provides all its members a joint platform to work on. Thanks to your continued support we are still able to provide this vital role for our industry. Due to an increased focus, we have grown very fast. We realize your time is precious and hence we will make this newsletter short and to the point. In order to further facilitate an atmosphere of cooperation within GSA and its members in developing the best possible open industry standards, the GSA Board of Directors has taken the initiative to review and revise our Patent policy. After five months of intense discussions I am pleased to announce that during a board meeting in June, the board has adopted our new Patent policy effective July 14th. Please take a few minutes to review this important policy. It can be found on the GSA website at www.gamingstandards.com/policies.html, along with our other key policies.

In addition to a new and strong Patent policy, the GSA will be launching a certification program in September 2003. We will remain focused on growing the association and will continue to encourage global participation. On that note the dedication of our members is high; at the annual meeting in April, two of our members flew to Las Vegas from Australia. During committee meetings I frequently see member representatives participate who fly in from Europe and/or Australia. We will continue to support our ‘overseas members’ by facilitating easier participation. Their contributions are essential in developing a balanced and solid global standard. I hope you enjoy this edition and as always, if you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact any one of us at GSA.

Kind regards,

Peter DeRaedt
GSA President
