As G2E 08 is now behind us, it is time to reflect on what we have witnessed. Standards are having a profound effect on the products being produced.
New and unique solutions are being developed that are zooming in on providing a better customer experience. Additionally, there were a flurry of industry discussions by both operators and manufacturers related to the new network infrastructure that is required to reap the full benefits of these new product offerings.

GSA at G2E
GSA's booth at G2E attracted many visitors who wanted to learn the latest news on GSA's standards as the booth was designed to be an information hub and a map distribution center. As opposed to past G2Es where the goal was to drive traffic to the GSA booth, this G2E, the goal was to drive traffic to GSA member booths where GSA standards are being implemented through a successful passport program for attendees. GSA's Technical Director, Marc McDermott as well as GSA volunteers, answered a lot of questions. GSA also provided the following panels at the G2E Institute on November 17, 2008 that drew large attendance: "The Next Protocol Phase: Moving from SAS to G2S and S2S" and "Thumbs Up: The Importance of GSA-Certified Products."
GSA would like to congratulate Diana Valverde with TransAct Technologies as our grand prize winner for the passport program. Diana received a $2,000 voucher towards a fabulous cruise of her choice with Royal Caribbean Cruises, Ltd.

Annual Meeting
GSA Annual Meeting was well attended by the gaming community and began with GSA's President, Peter DeRaedt sharing an update on GSA as participants enjoyed a delicious lunch. John Acres, CEO of Acres-Fiore delivered the keynote presentation that included a realistic view of the current gaming industry and improvements that need to be made.

Operator Advisory Committee Update
G2E 08 was the perfect venue for the Operator Advisory Committee (OAC) to meet in Las Vegas. The committee is chaired by Don Karrer, Penn National Gaming and the November session was quite productive.
As the winter weather arrives during the fourth quarter of 2008, GSA's technical committees are wrapping up another stellar year. The December Technical Meetings were held in Reno, Nevada and hosted by IGT.
